Fields
General Information
The fields that we play on are all over the East and West Sides of upper Manhattan and in Riverside and Central Park, as well as on Wards Island. We play on these fields in Spring and Fall seasons and work very closely with the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation to care for and improve them.
WSSL has made significant financial contributions to support the development of new fields in partnership with the Parks Department and the Riverside Parks Fund, including most recently the Playing Fields at 107th and 103rd Streets in Riverside Parks.
Thank you to all of our donors who have helped make these new fields possible for our kids, for baseball and for our communities. Please, also, pitch in to keep them nice and trash free on the days that you enjoy them.
Information on these pages gives you locations for each field, any special considerations, as well as instructions for the set up, break down and maintenance of the fields.
General Field Rules
- No smoking on or near any fields.
- No dogs allowed on or near any fields.
- No bicycles allowed on any fields. Please chain them to the nearest fence.
- Turf shoes are allowed on all fields.
- Cleats may only be worn on Dyckman, Jacob Schiff, Thomas Jefferson, 101st and RSP, 103rd and RSP, and 107 and RSP.
Field & Equipment Protocol
One of our most important jobs as community and soccer volunteers is to set up and restore our soccer equipment properly each time we use it -- taking special care of the fields that we have the privilege to use. Not only do we need to make sure the equipment is safe for the kids, set up accurately for the game prescribed for the age group playing, but we also need to be good stewards of the community, leaving the fields looking as good or better than when we arrived.
Taking care of our fields and equipment is everybody's job, but we also have some dedicated volunteers in place to provide you with guidance and to think about how we, as a league, can do an even better job of coordinating all the elements involved. Specifically, the league has an equipment director that is in charge of ordering new equipment, storing equipment in the off-season and working with divisional volunteers to get the equipment ready before and after each season. Each division (by age group for boys and girls) also has an equipment director, who can work with you to answer questions and provide help. Ask your division head to connect you with your divisional equipment director.
Detailed information for all volunteers on how to set up and break down equipment for each field is included under each field heading.
Field Assignments
Every WSSLer has a chance to play on nearly every field. Below represents the spring and fall field assignments to give you a general idea of where and on which day your child might play. Field assignments are always dependent on the number of children that sign up to play in each division each season and on the permits given to us by the parks department.
